Who’s
counting
on us
Our oceans are home to about 228,450 known marine species — but scientists estimate that more than 90 percent of ocean life is yet to be discovered. The declining health of marine ecosystems could mean that many species will go extinct before we ever get the chance to discover them.Among them, turtles are among the oldest and most emblematic: they have been roaming the seas for more than 200 million years, and yet, today, several species are on the verge of extinction. Present in the majority of aquatic ecosystems — from coral reefs to mangroves, from lagoons to the high seas — turtles are great travellers, but also ambassadors.By protecting them, we are defending all marine biodiversity: the one we know, and the one we have not yet had time to discover.
How we make a difference
The Fondation Vilebrequin collaborates with a network of individuals and organizations within the scientific community who share our desire to accelerate the movement toward a more sustainable future. We offer rewards and financial assistance to local and global actors working to monitor and protect marine life. We also commit to a policy of total transparency with respect to our donations and the organizations we choose to support. In so doing, the Fondation Vilebrequin hopes to inspire and facilitate the kind of behavioral changes that will empower all of us to live more responsible and sustainable lives.
